A huge congratulations to our #JuniorAcademy athlete Halle Bennett who finished a 4-week online competition tied for first! We asked Halle some questions about starting CrossFit, her experience with the Teen Fitness League competition, and what she likes to do for fun – she is a kid after all!
We couldn’t be more proud of Halle and all of her accomplishments since joining CrossFit FUNCTION. She has been invited to participate in the next Teen Fitness League competition and is set to compete on June 3!

Why did you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit at the beginning as another fun sport I wanted to try out. My mom and her friends were doing it so I tried it out, and here I am now in my first competition.
What is your favourite thing about CrossFit?
Family and coaches are my favorite thing because they help through my struggles, my health, and push me to be my best. Otherwise I love everything.
What part(s) challenge you the most?
The most challenging part would be how I have to speed up but keep the technique.
What are some of your accomplishments and what are you most proud of?
I am most proud of all my PRs, how far I have come in CF, and how I did really well in my competition, but not everything is about winning it’s about learning and seeing how much I have learned in the past 2 years is my biggest accomplishment.

- What was the most challenging part of this experience?
The most challenging part would be that it was all online.
- What did you learn?
I learned that it is not all about winning.
- What are you most proud of from this experience?
I’m most proud of how far I have come in learning and strength.
What has CrossFit taught you?
CF has taught me to be patient and work through movement slowly to get where I need to be within weights.
What other sports/activities are you involved in?
Soccer, basketball, Cross country, and paddleboarding.
In your free time, what are some activities you enjoy doing?
I like to play soccer, b-ball, practice CF, read, play on the slackline, rollerblade, bake/cook, and play outside.
You are on a deserted island….
- What 3 movies would you have?
Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince, Redeemed Dominant, and the Supergirl Series
- You’re only allowed one food item, what would it be?
A laying hen because it would bring me eggs and after I would eat it.
- What’s one piece of gym equipment you would want to have?
I would have a rig but if that doesn’t count then plates because I could make my own bar and clips to put them on.
