Imagine spending most of your life constantly worrying about food.
Is this healthy? Should I be consuming this many carbs? If I enjoy this piece of cake, will it send me in a downhill spiral?
These were just a few of the things I would worry about daily.
To me food was the enemy and something that controlled me.
I allowed food to be a form of comfort in hard times and a way to celebrate the good times.
It had a hold on me until one day I couldn’t recognize the person looking back at me in the mirror.
At that moment I knew something needed to change. I was 3 months postpartum and over a 100 pounds overweight. Not a life that I wanted to live.
Over the past 9 years I worked at losing weight, learning about portion control, and developing a fitness routine.
But it wasn’t until last year when I walked through those doors to CFF that I realized I had more work I needed to do on myself.
I had hit a point in my wellness journey that left me at a standstill. I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted to be seeing and I still had a terrible relationship with food.
It wasn’t until I started working with a CFF nutrition coach that I realized I had a lot of mindset work to do around food. After being in a weight loss deficit for too many years I needed to retrain myself to look at food as fuel and not as the enemy.
Fast forward a year we are continuing to make progress on other areas of nutrition. But I can say that I have done a 180 when it comes to having a positive relationship with food.
The impact that the CFF nutrition program has made on me has been everlasting.
That is one of my main reasons behind wanting to become a CFF nutrition coach.
I want to help make that impact on other people’s lives. I want to be able to show them that no matter what stage of life you are in, or what underlying issues someone may have that you’re not alone and you have a support system to lean on.
CrossFit Function has changed my life. It has given me a community that I didn’t know I needed and so many tools to help me in all areas of my life. This is why I want to give back to the CFF community and help others feel the success I have felt by walking through those doors.
